D.)--University of Washington, 2008.In recent years, the Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) have gained more and more attention from researchers and are widely applied in many transportation fields. Since ITS focuses on processing transportation information and data, data collection is fundamental and essential for the whole system. Most of the data, especially traffic data in real-time, are collected with traffic sensors. Compared with freeways, signalized intersections have much more complicated traffic conditions and deserve more research on data collection.
