The chemical de-rangements (hypocalcemia, hyperphospha-temia) found in all three cases originally reported were refractory to correction by administration of parathyroid extract. Parathyroid biopsy obtained from their first patient, after treatment with dihydro-tachysterol had corrected the hypocalcemia, disclosed normal parathyroid histology.
