This report is preliminary and has not been edited or reviewed for conformity with Geological Survey standards and nomenclature As part of the Louisiana Barrier-Island Erosion Study, a section of one of the barrier islands in the Isles Dernieres chain has been selected for a detailed, multi-year study. The main objective of the study is to determine the nature of the local morphodynamic processes that have produced substantial erosion and landward migration of the islands during, at least, the last 100 years. One of the elements of the study is a beach-profiling program using a highly accurate electronic distance meter.
