This paper presents a high-fidelity, event-driven model for performance analysis of various applications on Myrinet system area networks (SANs). The model is designed for the Block-Oriented Network Simulator (BONeS) commercial CAD environment for discrete-event simulation, is accurate down to the Myrinet character level, and supports a wide variety of topologies and parameter permutations. An analytical model is also presented by which the simulation model is verified, and validation of the simulation model is achieved through comparisons with experimental testbed results on both networking and parallel computing tests.
