The jobs and career paths of graduates of the University of Sussex in 1991-1993 were examined in a 1994 follow-up survey. Of the nearly 2,000 first-degree graduates contacted, 1,023 (567.) completed questionnaires. Within 6 months of graduation, only 2 of 5 respondents were in permanent jobs, 197. were in short-term or temporary employment, and 24 % were enrolled-in further study. The respondents ' average initial unemployment rate over 3 years was 15%. One year later, it decreased to 10%. Male graduates were more likely to find employment soon after graduation.
