Anterior Cruciate Ligament Injury in National Collegiate Athletic Association Basketball and Soccer

In 1995, Arendt and Dick2 reviewed knee injuries among men and women in National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) basketball and soccer over a 5-year period (1989-1993). The authors reported that female col-legiate athletes had a significantly higher rate of ACL injury, regardless of mechanism of injury, than did male collegiate athletes in soccer (0.31 vs 0.13) and basketball (0.26 vs 0.07)
