The purpose of the study was to investigate the efficiency of the Denver Developmental Screening Test (DDST) on a rural disadvantaged preschool population. Several study samples were selected from a large group (1,061) of children who were evaluated in a prospective longitudinal fashion over 3 years. The study presents descriptive outcome statistics on the (1,018) children who completed the DDST, examines the relationship between screening outcome on the DDST and individually administered intellectual measures (SB-LM or WPPS1) on a sample of 555 children, and evaluates the test-retest reliability of the DDST on a selected sample of 106 subjects.
