I g64.-Theoretical work-vol-ume curves for liquid-filled lungs were constructed based on an-assumed geometric form and deformation of the terminal air spaces and on the characteristics of single fibers of elastic tissue. These curves were compared with those measured in rats and with one taken from the journal literature in the case of a hu-man lung. The form of the measured curves fitted the theoreti-cal curves.
