Towards the end of the book, Jordan finally reflects on what his own focussed study of hacking might suggest about social scientific inquiry in the digital age. He concludes, drawing on both examples from previous chapters and Hutchby’s notion of affordances, that hacking introduces contradictions, tensions and new possibilities for studying relation-ships between society, technology and determination.
