hacking praxis might inform other cultural, political, creative, technical or social spheres. Towards the end of the book, Jordan finally reflects on what his own focussed study of hacking might suggest about social scientific inquiry in the digital age. He concludes, drawing on both examples from previous chapters and Hutchby’s notion of affordances, that hacking introduces contradictions, tensions and new possibilities for studying relation-ships between society, technology and determination. Hacking is, in part, about shifting power and ‘in this way hacking opens up new strategies for social scientific analyses of power in society and technology ’ (p. 139). For Jordan, those new strategies are only able to be articulated once one has developed the kind of nuanced understanding of hacking that is provided in this book
