Incidence of strong typhoons, threatened small islands to sea level rise and storm surges and inundation of low lying areas to flooding are just a few of possible disasters in the Philippines as identified by climatologists and policy makers within the next 10 years. The most vulnerable regions are in the Central Visayan provinces. Talisay City in the central province of Cebu, with its coastal zone is always buffeted by strong waves during southwest monsoon season ( June-October) affecting three-four communities and within the last twenty years had also experienced a major flooding from its Mananga River.
