4 5 6 Abstract 7 8 A total of 2254 faecal samples were tested in a European multi-centre evaluation of 9 commercially available norovirus antigen detection assays. Two commercial enzyme 10 immunoassays, IDEIA ™ Norovirus (Oxoid, Thermo Fisher Scientific, Ely, UK) and 11 RIDASCREEN ® Norovirus (r-biopharm, Darmstadt, Germany) were included in the 12 evaluation and their performance was compared with the results of reverse transcription-13 polymerase chain reaction. Samples included, were collected from sporadic cases of 14 gastoenteritis, outbreaks from which 2 or more samples were collected, well characterised 15 samples representing genotypes currently co-circulating within Europe and samples 1
