Trichosporon species are an emerging cause of infection, par-ticularly among transplant recipients. We report what we believe to be the first case of successful management of dis-seminated Trichosporon mucoides infection with orally ad-ministered fluconazole in a heart and kidney transplant recipient. Trichosporon species are emerging pathogens in humans with compromised host defenses. Historically, they cause difficult-to-treat infections in transplant recipients. Previously, Tricho-sporon species were known only as the cause of white piedra, a mild, superficial infection of the hair shafts most often en-countered in tropical regions.
