Income convergence among countries in a region promotes geopolitical stability in the short run as well as economic cooperation in the long run. Using annual data for 1960-2000, we examine the issue of income convergence among the 10 ASEAN economies during the sample period. We do not find any evidence of inter-country income convergence within ASEAN as a whole or within a core subset of ASEAN
