n making the leap from a BSN and several years of clinical practice directly to a PhD program in policy, I have been presented with significant challenges to my skill set and thinking on nursing and related health policy is-sues. Thus I was excited, and relieved, to find Rus-sell and Fawcett’s revised conceptual model for nursing and health policy in the November 2005 edition of Policy, Politics & Nursing Practice. I found the model comprehensive enough to help me to clarify my direction, yet flexible enough to help to develop new approaches toward the pol-icy problems I am examining as I begin work on my doctoral dissertation.
