ABSTRACT The passive transfer of sera containing a high concentration of anti-sheep erythrocyte antibodies to juvenile chickens resulted in antibody mediated suppression of the primary hemagglutination response. This immunosuppression was not dependent upon having antibody in the system for several hours prior to the introduction of the antigen or upon multiple injections of the antisera. It appears that antibody mediated suppression in the young chicken is not mechanistically dependent upon the amount of antibody which is transferred or upon antibody being present in circulation for several hours prior to the antigen challenge
