For this reason, the Ethiopian Federal Police Counter-Narcotic Division (EFPCND) to prevent and combat the illicit drug production, trafficking and consumption within the country, was established. From the researcher‘s experience in the Ethiopian Federal Police he identified that there are shortcomings in the prevention mechanisms of the Federal Police in terms of the policing of drugs. It is for this reason that the researcher needed to conduct this research. The goal of this research is to show and recommend the best practices of illicit drug trafficking prevention measures. In the following chapters, the researcher explains the existing illicit drug trafficking prevention measures of the Ethiopian Federal Police.
