British parents of children with severe/multiple learning disabilities were surveyed to determine the parents ' wishes, needs, and satisfaction with the child's school placement. Eighty parents responded (a 53 percent response rate) to a mailed questionnaire. At present, the majority of children described as having severe learning difficulties are educated in special schools where they are increasingly integrated with less severely disabled children. Responses to questions concerning what parents want the child to learn, level of satisfaction with what is being taught by subject area, actual and desired participation of parents in the child's education, and types of support services received are rank ordered.
