This paper uses panel data from 2000-2008 on migration flows between municipalities in Norway. The relatively new method of fixed effect vector decomposition (fevd) is used to estimate parameters for time-invariant spatial structure variables as well as for labour market factors such as unemployment rates, income and industrial diversity. Results show that migrants tend to respond to ‘push ’ factors in their home municipality rather than ‘pull’ factors at potential destinations. Several measures of spatial structure are experimented with, adding considerably to the explanatory power of the model, as expected
