New perspectives and applications for artificial in-telligence (AI) have appeared over the last decade in biomedicine. AI applications in medicine and biol-ogy (including genetics and genomics) were separate fields of research until recently. Neither did profes-sionals of the two disciplines, medical informatics and bioinformatics, have much contact.
