Most models of intercultural adjustment rely on the assumption that adjustment changes systematically over the course of a sojourn. However, studies in the intercultural transitions literature generally have not found evidence of systematic change, most likely hampered by their cross-sectional methodology. In the present study, changes in psychological and sociocultural intercultural adjustment were examined using data collected over time. Two additional constructs, intercultural adjustment self-efficacy beliefs and self-awareness, also were studied for their change over the course of a sojourn.
