Hypertension has long been identified as a primary con-tributor to coronary heart disease, stroke, and heart failure.1 While the onset of hypertension can be delayed or even pre-vented, its treatment is successful in many with inexpensive medications.1,2 Even with this success, the prevalence of hypertension continues to be at an undesirable level, and its control in the United States is far below what is possible.3 The immigration and growth of Hispanic/Latino popula-tions has increased the need to identify and address their specific health needs.
