In this report the application of the differential game theory to missile guidance problem is considered. Interceptor/target relative kinematics equations for a 3-D engagement are derived in state space form suitable for implementing the feedback guidance through minimisation-maximisation of the performance index. This performance index is a generalisation of that utilised by previous researchers in this field and includes, in addition to the miss-distance term, other terms involving interceptor/target relative velocity terms. This latter inclusion allows the designer to influence the engagement trajectories so as to aid both the intercept and evasion strategies.
