362 German HF sires were used to analyze the effect of different weighing in total economic indices (TEI) on sire ranking and selection differentials. Traits i;clud=ed in the TEIs were subindices for milk production (fat-kg, protein-kg), udderhealth (som. cell count),-reproduction (non return 90, stillbirth " calvhg ease/6 proofs), herdtife (funct.survival), and conformation (type, udder). 8 TEIs were defined, covering an econornic scenario from 100 % for milkproducuon to 20o/ " for each of the 5 subindices. The sensitivity of total indices for economic werghing of traits was found to be low under practical conditions of selection
