Effects of the nitric oxide synthase inhibitor iV-nitro-L-arginine methyl ester (L-NAME) were studied in anesthetized rats, using in situ duodenal perfusion. L-NAME increased bicarbonate secretion, permeability, and fluid secretion and induced motility.
