Much work has been done to establish the link between child poverty and health in Canada. With the exception of work in reference to Aboriginal children,1,2 there is little research to show how poor children bear a disproportionate burden of exposure to environmental contaminants. In the United States, much of the work in this area has evolved in the environmental jus-tice movement where communities of colour have drawn links among social, eco-nomic and environmental issues, noting that children who live in poverty also tend to live downhill, downwind and down-stream.
