This document is a report on a survey of college raculty for 1972-73 compiled from results of a faculty Tzestionnaire. The doaument is composed of descriptions of the design of the study, the survey form, the national norms, and an overview of the findings. Included as appendixes are the names of institutions represented by faculty respondents, a sample of the questionnaire, and tables of weighted national normative distributions. The overview of the findings indicates the following about the average college faculty member in this country: over 40, tenured, white, male, masters degree recipient, religious, politically conservative, and born of a father with an eighth grade education and a mother who completed bigh school; also, his previous...
