The fast growth rate of young turkeys is en-hanced by diets with a high total protein content, which may reach up to 28 % in the first month [1]. Because of the European ban on the use of meat and bone meal in animal feeds, diets for growing turkeys may contain more than 50% soybean meal, widely used as a major source of protein in animal diets [2]. Soybean meal has a high K content, which leads to an increase in K concentrations in soybean meal-based poul-© 2012 Poultry Science Association, Inc.
