Thirty-nine papers from the conference "Discovery '84: Technology for Disabled Persons " are presented. The conference was intended to provide an overview of the areas in which technological advances have been made, including the applications of computers and other related products and services. Conference presenters represented fields of education, counseling, special education, vocational rehabilitation, and computer science. The papers in the current volume address topics dealing with various ways in which computer technology can enhance the lives of the handicapped and disabled, biomedicine (including a paper on biomedical techniques for post head trauma victims), environmental control (including issues such as the management of incontinence), transportation issues such as a functional urban paratransit system, and communication issues such as a communication system for nonvocal physically impaired persons.
