Based on Activity Theory’s distinctions between activity, action, and operation behaviors, past research on habit is examined. Habit is found to be a significant antecedent of the latter, but not of the former behavior types, providing a plausible explanation for the mixed results of past research. The implications of this finding for IS research are discussed
