EXPERIENCES IMPLANTING THE EUROPEAN CREDIT SYSTEM (ECTS) IN

Abstract- Nowadays a process of convergence is developing i n Europe to create the “European university education common area”. One of the main objective of this process is that all European countries involved in this process adopt a common Credit System called ECTS (European Credit Transfer System). ECTS credits represent in one hand the entire time needed by an average student to prepare a course, and in the other give information about the educational programs through the so called Teaching Guides. Because of the significance that this convergence process has to the European Universities, and specially to the e-learning Universities, the Electrical and Computer Engineering Department of the Industrial Engineering School at the UNED as result from the development of the Doctoral Thesis titled: “Proposal of design and development of a quality model for teaching/learning processes at a virtual communication element ” will implement this credits.
