Designed to provide an orientation in and foster sensitivity to the field of educational politics as it has pivduring the past decade, this monograrevievs, sYntheSizei, and evaluateS selected literature in the field, and intsgrates theoretical analysis and empirical evidence. Three themes recur throughout the monograph--that there is a dynamic relationShi,p between educational politics and societal change, that politiOal culture is a powerful determinant'of the style aid structure of educational politics, and that professional and emplOyee interests dominate in the governance of education.
