distribution Abstract. We review some criteria allowing the systematic construction of arbitrary order non-oscillatory residual distribution schemes for the solution of hyperbolic conser-vation laws on unstructured triangulations. For simplicity, we present the main ideas for the case of scalar conservation laws, and then present results for some representative problems involving the solution of scalar models, of a Cauchy-Riemann system, and of the Euler equations.
