Today secondary school social studies curricula are in a state of "curriculum anarchy"; local curriculum patterns are more varied than at any other time in this century. It is no longer possible to describe a typical state, regional or national pattern of social studies curriculum. To facilitate an exchange of views by Colorado educators on where social studies education is going or should go in the seventies a conference was held at the Educational Resources Center, Boulder, Colorado, on April 11, 1973.
