Abstract: We suggest a new passive type vibration control system, tuned rotary-mass damper (TRMD), which consists of the rolling mass (rotary-mass) and the container (outer shell) allowing the free movement of the mass along its inner arc. This TRMD has a simple construction and is applicable to the structure. The tuning of TRMD can be made by adjusting the diameter of the rotary-mass and the curvature of inside the outer shell. To determine the optimum tuning and damping ratio for a linear system of TRMD, a design technique of tuned mass damper is applied.
