The aim of this thesis is to investigate if, and in what ways, the historical Jesus was considered by his contemporaries to be following a Solomonic typology in his way of performing exorcisms. The idea of a Solomon-shaped Jesus first emerged in an article written by Loren Fisher in the late 1960s. Even though the idea was based on faulty premises, the article gave rise to a discussion based upon the title ‘Son of David ’ that linked Jesus to Solomon. It is, however, unclear whether the discussion regarded the historical Jesus or the Jesus of the Gospels.
