The necessity for teachers to continue to learn and the need for continuing improvement in the quality of preservice and inservice teacher education are the emphases in this volume. The first two parts of the book deal directly with current issues in the teaching of reading and offer suggestions for the improvement of teacher education. Twelve chapters in part one focus on teacher training, both preservice and inservice; seven chapters in part two concern reading specialists--qualifications and techniques.
