Mitomycin C (MMC) is one of the most important drugs for the prevention of recurrence and also progression of superficial bladder tumors as well as for treatment. It selectively inhibits DNA replication, mitosis, and protein synthesis and it is active at each phase of the cell cycle [1]. Scar formation formed after urethral traumas is a result of themigration of collagens (especially type I) and extracellular matrices [2]. Because MMC pre-vents DNA replication of epithelial cells and fibro-blasts and also inhibits collagen synthesis [1], theoretically it is thought to be an effective agent in urethral injuries.
