Abstract: The author has introduced a new efficient algorithm called “weighted medi-ated morphological filters ” for signal/image denoising [1]. Adaptive version of such op-erators has been applied in 1-D for adaptive ECG processing [2]. The main objective of this paper is to extend the proposed method in 2-D for adaptive image processing and compare the efficiency of the adaptive fil-ters with that of non-adaptive ones. The pro-posed adaptive filters are employed in single and also multiple image denoising. Keywords:Adaptive image processing, non-linear filtering, weighted mediated morpho-logical filters, adaptive filtering.
