tis due to Aspergillus fumigatus is described. The diagnosis was established during life when a sur-gically removed aortic embolus revealed the or-ganism on culture and histologic examination. A relatively short period of treatment with ampho-tericin B was unsuccessful. The relationship of such unusual infections to the use of antimicrobial, cytotoxic, and anti-inflammatory drugs is dis-cussed. The importance of suspecting fungal endo-carditis in view of possible curative medical and surgical treatment is emphasized.
