The total incidence of muscle pains following suxamethonium in dental out-patients was reduced from 47.6 per cent to 23.2 per cent by the injection of 5 mg gallamine 2 minutes prior to the administration of suxamethonium. The severity of the pains was also very markedly reduced. Whilst a significant reduction was found in females, a similar reduction was not found in males which may be due to a relatively smaller dose being given in this group of patients.
