T H E natural history of trigger finger has been incompletely described and its relationship to rheumatoid arthritis never clearly defined. This follow-up study of adults who had presented to orthopaedic surgeons with apparently uncompli-cated triggering of one or more digits produces some new information about both these subjects. Tendon lesions are common extra-articular manifestations of rheumatoid arthritis ^ and their incidence around the wrist and hand has been recorded in several papers (Table I)
