In its fifth year, the bibliography follows the established pattern, covering items published worldwide in the previous year. Subject access is provided by the contents list and classified arrangement and through a detailed subject index which includes entries for countries and regions. The name index includes authors and name subject entries for individuals and organisa-tions. Looking back over previous editions of the bibliography it would perhaps be naive to be surprised by the volume of material which one profession produces on just one aspect of its activities albeit a vital one. I am also struck however by the range of knowledge and skills which information professionals may be expected to possess and by the rapid absorption of new areas into the core of librarianship education and training. In this context users of this bibliography may feel that there are subjects which should receive more coverage here, but which are perhaps not adequately reflected in the mainstream literature of librarianship. If this is so I should be glad to hear fro
