This study examined the effect of single-sex schooling on the academic and social development of boys. An extensive literature review presents the conflicting results ofstudies of various issues related to single-sex education. Subjectsof the present study were 39 boys in a fourth grade class at a boysschool and 23 boys in a fourth grade class of 43 students at acoeducational school. Subjects completed a questionnaire thatmeasured their attitude toward several aspects of school life. Boysin the boys school expressed a more positive attitude than boys inthe coeducational school toward foreign language, information abouthealth, spelling, wood shop, competitive sports, recess, computers,and talent shows.
