Ethiopia has great potential for the investment sector because of its favorable conditions, its fertility of land, mineral and forest resources, different climatic conditions, water resources are some of the factors that make Ethiopia desirable for investment. Despite these factors (resources), there are very few investment activities in the country. Taking Jimma Zone as a small part of the country also, there are poor investment activities despite the same favorable conditions as the general country..-In this research stud~it has been tried to identify the causes for low investment activities ln Iimma Zone, and their consequence on the overall economic development in the area. Data were collected from different governmental and non governmental, public and private organizations, people being engaged in different investment activities in the area and unsuccessful investors.
