The purpose of this study was to determine the attitudes of physical therapists toward teaching as part of their professional role. A questionnaire survey of physical therapists was conducted using a semantic differential scale designed by the author. Results indicated a strongly positive attitude toward teaching among physical therapists; this positive attitude was significant (p <.01) in therapists employed in private practice settings. A set of descriptors about the attitudes of physical therapists toward teaching was identified. The results indicated that teaching is a positively valued component of physical therapy practice.
