High-resolution computerised tomographic (CT) scanning reveals fine details of bone structure, thereby overcoming the disadvantages of the conventional CT scanner in orthopaedic diagnosis. A number ofselected cases are presented in order to help define the indications for the use ofthis new diagnostic tool, and an unusual case of osteoid osteoma in a vertebral body is reported.
