"Readalong, " a program employing a videotape format to teach vocabulary skills to early childhood lealmers, vas tested in an English-as-a-second-language (ESL) setting by comparing primary and advanced ESL classes using the program with classes using only the conventional teaching materials. Students received a test prior to the initiation of the series and three tests at regular intervals during the course of the 30 programs, A covariance model was used to analyze the data, and results showed "Readalong " to be an effective tool to help ESL students, A questionnaire also showed teachers to be enthusiastic about the use of the program.
