Garden pea (Pisum sarivum L.) is an important legume vegetable. Understanding the growth and development of reproductive organs IS an important basis for investigating causes of yield variation. The pod is the primary sink for photosynthates during seed development. The growth and development of pea pods and seeds 15 probably the most under researched area of plant physiology as compared to other legumes.
