The isotopic composition of the ore leads from an area in north-east Queensland are compared with previously reported rock-lead initial ratios. These data suggest that the isotopic characteristics of the ore lead result from extensive mixing of a fairly uniform lead component from Carboniferous-Permian magmas with readily leachable country-rock lead. This last may in some cases be of Precambrian origin
