In the year 2003 the United Nations Convention against Transnational Organised Crime and its protocol against Trafficking in Persons will come into force and create new obligations for State Parties. Both legal instruments contain specific provisions on the rights of victims of organised crime and corruption and of trafficking in persons respectively. An analysis is made of the concurrence of these provisions with the United Nations Declaration ofBasic Principles of Justice for Victims of Crime and Abuse of Power, adopted by the General Assembly in 1985.
